Andrew J Deans 39th Annual Lorne Genome Conference 2018

Andrew J Deans

Andrew Deans completed his PhD at the Peter Mac in the laboratory of Grant McArthur in 2005 and then undertook postdoctoral studies with Steve West at the London Research Institute. In 2011, Andrew returned to Australia as a National Breast Cancer Foundation fellow and he currently heads the Genome Stability unit at St Vincent’s Institute in Melbourne. Andrew’s laboratory is focused on understanding enzymes involved in familial breast and ovarian cancer, and rare cancer-prone disorders such as Fanconi anaemia and Bloom’s syndrome. Andrew studies the biochemical, enzymatic and structural properties of these proteins, that are specifically involved in DNA repair – the prevention of mutation in the human genome.
